Gourmet rally in the Bourbonnaise Mountains

Here we are, on the winding roads of the mountains, discovering the women and men who, each in his or her own way, bring to life the soul of the Bourbonnais Mountains.

Gourmet roadtrip

In a haven of green...

Accompanied by Loic Ballet, famous chronicler and host, we will discover small producers and restaurateurs of the Montagne Bourbonnaise. On the way, we will pass through these typical towns and small villages of the Allier: Nizerolles, Chatel Montagne, Le Mayet de Montagne before returning to Vichy.

Mouth watering

RDV at the Hameau de Gayère in Nizerolles

A beautiful sunny weekend, a bunch of friends and an irrepressible desire for grilled food in the fresh mountain air! It didn’t take much more for the connection to be made with the chipolatas of the Ferme de Gayère. The Campagnat family is based in the small hamlet of Gayère in Nizerolles, on the family farm that specializes in pig and Charolais breeding.

The taste of the peaks

Direction Chatel Mountain

After a short hike, Natacha and Laurent Krieger, owners of the restaurant Le 16 Arts welcome you in front of the Notre-Dame church. Sublimate local organic products, simple and healthy, in a careful and inventive gastronomy. To be tried for dinner!

Tasting of the local paté en croute

In Mayet de Montagne

There, on the stall of the butcher’s shop in Mayet de Montagne, between the beef and the lamb, a divine Richelieu pie, a specialty of the House of Muzeau, is making your eye… Home-made with meat raised and processed in the Bourbonnaise mountains, you absolutely must taste it!

Vichy

Decoret wine-water pairing

We’ll meet you at Jacques Decoret’s table: Meilleur ouvrier de France, Chef of the Year 2017, 17/20 in the Champérard Guide, 4 toques and Gault & Millau d’Or the same year, and of course Michelin starred. Back in Vichy, try this new experience that the chef offers: marrying oenology and eaunology. Where more than in Vichy, Queen of the Water Cities, could this idea legitimately spring up?

Mountain Star:

Meeting with Loic Baillet

Now every morning on France 2, Loïc Ballet, French gastronomy reporter, travels across France to defend the good products of our lands and to put the spotlight on the professions of the mouth, the artisans of taste who work in the anonymity of the back stores. With his three-wheeler dressed in gingham, he takes a small mobile kitchen from Brest to Nice and from Lille to Saint Jean de Luz. And when weekend time comes around, Loïc jumps back on the train to find his haven of peace, up there in the Montagne Bourbonnaise…
