Rue Alquié, 03200 Vichy
Neo-Venitian, Flemish, Gothic, Classical or Art Nouveau in style, most of the villas on these streets were built at the turn of the 20th century.
What all these homes have in common is that they are either seductive enough to be rented out to seasonal residents who come to take the waters, or a calling card for their sponsors.

Discover the most remarkable villas in the spa district. The houses on rue Alquié, this string of English-style houses, were built from 1863 onwards by architect Jean Lefaure, to house the Imperial Guard officers who accompanied Napoleon III on his visits to Vichy. The Napoleon III chalets along Boulevard des États-Unis, in Swiss or English colonial style, were built at Napoleon III's request. They welcomed the Emperor and his imperial retinue during his stays in Vichy. On Rue de Belgique, the journey takes you from Castel Flamand to Villa Vénitienne and on to Villa Strauss. Boulevard de Russie, a veritable flowering of villas built between the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries, bears witness to the architectural eclecticism of the period. Then walk along the Parc Napoléon III on Avenue Walter Stucki, with its pretty, colorful houses. Finally, the Quai d'Allier, located between the esplanade du lac d'Allier and the Parc Napoléon III, boasts some of Vichy's finest residences, including the emblematic Villa du Docteur Maire (11, quai d'Allier).
