Source intermittente

Natural wonder, Spring in Bellerive-sur-Allier
  • The shady park of La Source Intermittente is unusual in that a spring gushes out at regular intervals. Since it was drilled on January 31, 1844, it has been delivering water at 29.7° every six hours for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Legend has it that this spring is the fruit of Satan's anger at one of the local lords for playing him. Since then, it is said, the lord's horse has been buried under the spring, which runs dry when he drinks... Every year in mid-December, the Place de la Source intermittente hosts the "Ö Sources de Noël" Christmas village, now the town's flagship event.
