There are five passes in the Allier department. The Montagne Bourbonnaise is the highest territory in the department. And logically, it's in this mid-mountain zone that the main passes are located. There are four of them.
The Col du Beau Louis (824 m) marks the border between Allier and Loire. It can be reached via Ferrières-sur-Sichon on a 9 km route.
Cycle tour N° 8 Au cœur de la Montagne Bourbonnaise takes you over the Col de la Loge des Gardes and the Rivière Noire.
The Col de la Plantade and the Col du Beau Louis require a small detour on the circuit.
