There are five passes in the Allier department. The Montagne Bourbonnaise is the highest area in the department. And logically, it's in this mid-mountain zone that the main passes are located. There are four of them.
The Col de la Rivière Noire passes the symbolic 1000-meter mark. It lies between the Allier and Loire departments. In the Allier department, it can be climbed via Saint-Clément and then Saint-Nicolas des Biefs, over a distance of a good dozen kilometers.
Cycle tour N° 8 Au cœur de la Montagne Bourbonnaise takes you over the Col de la Loge des Gardes and the Rivière Noire.
The Col de la Plantade and the Col du Beau Louis require a small detour on the circuit.
