Nestling at the foot of the mountains, Mariol is crossed by the Darot, a stream that flows from the heights to the east.

Progress through the forest is pleasant, although sometimes steep. The more open spaces offer lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Crosses, wells and ovens can be seen along the way before descending from the plateau to Mariol, following the Darot.
