Every year, thousands of visitors stroll through the narrow streets of the village to reach the Billy Fortress, immersing young and old alike in the history of the Bourbons.

And what a story! This fortress, which rose up from the lands of the Allier Valley, takes you on a true journey back in time. In this world apart, steeped in mystery, you’ll set out to explore its distinctive houses, its rather unusual well, its auditorium, its captain’s quarters… and it’s in true chivalrous style that you’ll set out to storm this dizzying fortress. Step inside this fortified city to experience—or relive—history. Preserving heritage doesn’t mean being frozen in time, but rather making it accessible to a wider audience. It’s not just about showcasing the site but about sparking your curiosity; a guide will accurately recount the history of this iconic place, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled once you’re on the ramparts—a breathtaking view of the Val d’Allier awaits you. Guided tours of the Fortress are offered by the Tourist Office from Wednesday through Sunday in April, May, June, and September at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and in July at 10:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. Guided tours of the village and the fortress are held on Sundays in May, June, and September at 2:00 p.m., and on Wednesdays and Sundays in July and August at 3:30 p.m. No tours in the event of a thunderstorm.
