Vichy celebrates Napoleon III

Napoleon III has deeply marked the image of Vichy. Since 2008, the city pays tribute to him by transporting us for a weekend to the Second Empire.

Nationally recognized

Historical reconstructions

Nationally recognized and identified by the public as one of the flagship events of historical re-enactments in France, Vichy fête Napoléon III is also a must for the people of Vichy, who are plunged back into the era of balls, walks, concerts and dinners of yesteryear for three days in the springtime. Costumed enthusiasts join in playing the game of that era and actively participate in the atmosphere created by the various activities offered throughout the weekend.

Show, ball parade...

On the program

Each year the program of the event is based on unmissable highlights: opening show, grand ball, musical and dancing dinner, great parade in the city. Imperial Park, meanwhile, brings together more than 200 costumed extras divided into themed districts (military, burghers, artisans, horsemen …) where you can discover all the habits and customs of the time, including dance.

Rediscovering Vichy

Vichy celebrates Napoleon III, is also an opportunity to discover or rediscover Vichy in a different way, through carriage rides, theatrical guided tours. And to be opened architectural gems such as the Espace Pléiade (former dining room of the Majestic palace) or simply the multiple rooms of the Palais des congrès opéra which is returning to its original function when it was still called the Grand Casino. And to feel at the heart of the party, the Comptoir de l’élégance offers a costume rental service.
